"Fun with Automata”
Saturday 14th April- Wednesday 18th April
A workshop with David Archer, tailored for participants to enjoy the
unique experience of designing and constructing their own interactive
sculpture.
You will learn the fundamentals of automaton mechanisms, clay modelling,
construction and decorating. With this basic understanding of principles,
participants will be able to “bring their sculptures to life!” and gain
insight into this rewarding art form, under the guidance of David Archer.
You will end up with an interactive, moving work of art!....which we
would love you to leave with us for an exhibition during the Tiny Towns
Arts Trail.
David is a recognised contemporary automata maker with over 25 years
of experience, who hails from South Australia. He is inspired by the
tradition of Victorian and Edwardian amusements and seaside piers, circuses
and travelling carnivals, providing an escape into fantasy, often giving
a humorous insight into the human condition. He uses all manner of 'junk'
and recycled treasures in his creations, which blend art and mechanics.
